The Saarschleife, or "Great Bend in the Saar" as it is sometimes known, is one of the most famous tourist attractions of the beautiful Saarland. The Saar River creates a winding path for nearly 10 kilometers between the towns of Besseringen and Mettlach, with dense foliage creating an idyllic atmosphere along the way. On the forested mountains, visitors can find the remains of a former cloister complex, ruins of Montclair fortress and the only village located directly on the Saarschleife- Dreisbach, which can be reached by ferry! Don't forget to check out the Treetop Walk Saarschleife observation tower for stunning panoramic views from both the inner and outer riverbends - an experience not to be missed.
