We always love to disconnect (if we can) when travelling, however, it's always nice to know how to stay connected with loved ones at home or in case of emergencies.

eSIMS

  • Whilst travelling on safari in in Tanzania, we would recommend you purchase an eSIM prior to your trip. They are easy to sort out at home before you leave for your trip and you don't need to worry about trying to find a SIM card on arrival at the airport!

  • We have used numerous eSIMS over the years and have always loved our service with Airalo!

  • Bear in mind that some parks will not have service, so don't expect your eSIM to work everywhere! After all, you are in areas of remote wilderness!

SIM cards

  • You can opt to purchase a SIM card on arrival in Tanzania, however we usually don't opt for this, purely because it's more hassle!

  • They generally are cheaper though, so if cost is a concern, be sure to check them out.

  • You will likely need to show ID when purchasing a SIM card in Tanzania.

  • Make sure they give you the PIN for the SIM card as you will need this to top up!

Wi-Fi

  • Most safari companies offer 'Wi-Fi' within the truck, but again, it's important to remember that a lot of the time it may not work if they have no signal within the parks! Don't expect to be connected during your whole trip.

  • Most lodges and hotels will also offer Wi-Fi, but the service can be very temperamental due to their locations. Often you have to be in the main dining tent or communal area to have okay Wi-Fi signal and often the signal will not reach your rooms, so bear that in mind.
