Hofskirkja Turf Church in Öræfi, South-East Iceland, is the youngest of the remaining turf churches in the country. Built in 1883-1885, this charming church has a rock wall and a roof covered with turf. Inside, you'll find a beautifully painted interior, Danish tin candle-lights from the 16th or 17th century, and a cemetery with unique tussock-like graves. Although closed to the public, Hofskirkja is a gem worth admiring for its historical significance and traditional Icelandic architecture.
