Friends, this is no Chester zoo, but it's half the price and a lot smaller - which doesn't sound like great maths but I think makes it a much better option for smaller children (has anyone ever completed Chester zoo in a day with small kiddos??)

There's a fantastic range of animals including the beautiful snow leopards, red pandas, loads of different types of monkeys, penguins and seals.They have a few different restaurants on site which we didn't use but looked like they had some great options at reasonable prices.

But for me the unexpected highlight was the play areas, with loads of wooden structures and huge slides, we kept circling back to it as my girls couldn't get enough.

And it's only 5 minutes drive from Colwyn Bay sea front so you can end the day with fish and chips on the beach and a paddle in the sea.

Honest Review: This zoo feels like being transported back to the 1980s, so if you're not a fan of old-school zoos you'll probably want to avoid this one.

It is also lives up to it's name of being a mountain zoo - this place is hilly! So get ready for a workout.
