Goldstream is an excellent place to explore old-growth forests and capture beautiful woodland scenes. The area is home to towering western red cedars and bigleaf maples, making it ideal for forest photography, especially in autumn when the leaves turn vibrant shades of gold and orange.
The biggest draw, however, is Niagara Falls, located on the opposite side of the highway. To reach it from the main parking lot, you can walk under the highway via the culvert that drains water from the falls. It’s an impressive waterfall, particularly in the fall months when the water flow is strong.
On the south end of the parking area, there’s another beautiful woodland with a small seasonal waterfall that cascades over a moss-covered cliff. This waterfall only flows after heavy rainfall, but when it does, it adds another layer of charm to the area.
One thing to remember is that Goldstream gets very busy, mainly because of its location off the highway. If you want to enjoy the area in peace, avoid visiting on weekends when crowds peak.
