This incredible National Park was established in 1918 and today has become one of the most popular places for brown bear viewing up close. With its stunning landscapes and wildlife, walking with the grizzlies will be something you'll never forget. I recommend going at the end of August to see the bears right before they fatten up for winter hibernating and hopefully be able to catch them with a salmon run! We visited the park with Bald Mountain Air out of Homer, and they did an exceptional job on our day trip to the area. If you have any option to sit in the front of the plane - do it! The views on the way there/back are unmatched and take you right over the Valley of 10,000 Smokes.
