Angel Island State Park, located in the San Francisco Bay, is a hidden gem offering stunning views and rich history. From being a seasonal hunting ground for native tribes to serving as an immigration station processing hundreds of thousands of immigrants, the island has a diverse past. Visitors can explore hiking trails, picnic areas, and historical sites like the Immigration Station Barracks Museum. With ferry access from San Francisco and Tiburon, Angel Island is a perfect getaway for nature lovers and history buffs alike.

Upon arrival, we opted to do the North Ridge to Sunset Trail hike, which is a 5.0 mile round trip looped trail that takes you to the peak on the island, Mount Livermore. This offers 360 degree views of the entire San Francisco Bay including views of San Francisco, Oakland, The Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Richmond Bridge, Alcatraz, San Quentin and more! But you can also bike, and take tram tours around the island as well.

There is no State Park fee, but there is the cost of ferry service from San Francisco or Tiburon which range from $15-$18 per person.

Pet-friendly: No, pets are not allowed on the ferries or island

Soft adventure: Yes and no depending on your activity choice

Seasonality: All seasons

Park entry fee: $3 but is included in ferry price
