New Chitose Airport is the gateway to Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost prefecture. It is where you are most likely to start your Hokkaido ski or snowboard adventure, and as soon as you land you will see the evidence that Hokkaido is one of the snowiest places on Earth – just look out the window and see that some baggage carts on the tarmac have snowplows. From the CTS airport, there are a number of transportation options to get you to Sapporo or to one of the dozens of worth-while ski areas on the island.
