The Faro Voltiano, also known as the Volta Lighthouse, is a striking octagonal tower dedicated to scientist Alessandro Volta. Standing tall at 29 metres in San Maurizio Brunate, it offers breathtaking views of Lake Como and the Alps. At night, the lighthouse lights up Como and its valley with white, red, and green lights. You can reach this iconic landmark by car or enjoy a scenic ride on the Funicular to Brunate followed by a charming 30-minute walk through the village streets.
You can climb the 134 steps up the staircase to the lighthouse for the most spectacular views! 📸🏞️
There is a small fee to enter the lighthouse. In the high season (mid-April to end-October), it’s normally open daily except Wednesdays, from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm.
