Ruthven Barracks are an interesting historical sight located near Ruthven in Badenoch, Scotland. These barracks were built during the 1719 Jacobite uprising and are the best preserved of the four barracks built at that time. The complex is complete with two large three-storey blocks with two rooms each, in addition to musket firing loopholes and bastion towers located at opposite corners. Ruthven Barracks have a rich history dating back to the 12th century, attracting visitors from around the world. Visitors can explore the ruins free of charge and have the unique opportunity to contemplate hundreds of years of past history!
