The words "Ralph Lauren coffee shop" never crossed my mind until we walked into this place in Hisaya-odori Park. Turns out the iconic American designer has a coffee brand, and the shop has that perfect blend of upscale casual style you'd expect - lots of dark wood, crisp white, and subtle branding.
The coffee itself was surprisingly excellent - not just riding on the designer name. What made it special was the atmosphere - it felt like this little slice of Americana with Japanese precision and service.
The secret family recipe brownies (apparently from Ricky Lauren) made the perfect accompaniment. The whole experience felt incongruously fancy for a coffee break during sightseeing, but sometimes that contrast is what makes travel memorable.
