If you're looking for a touch of elegance and a bit of indulgence, afternoon tea at The Thoroughbred Club in The Charleston Place Hotel is an experience you won’t want to miss. This sophisticated, English-inspired lounge brings a charming Southern spin to the classic tea tradition, offering a delightful mix of sweet and savory bites alongside a carefully curated selection of teas. Whether you're celebrating something special or just want to treat yourself, tea service is available Wednesday through Saturday at 2 PM, and if you’re feeling extra fancy, you can even add on Champagne and Caviar for a truly luxurious experience. I highly recommend the upgrades for any caviar lover, since the hotel serves a custom blend of caviar that you can only get here.
Tea & Drinks to Savor
You start by smelling with a cocktail or mocktail - before jumping into the tea - which is very interactive. There is a vial of each blend of tea available on your table for you to smell, to help you pick which you might like. We chose the following:
Apple Spritz Mocktail – Light and refreshing with a touch of sweet cinnamon, perfect for a crisp, uplifting sip.
Espresso Martini – A classic take with a smooth finish and just the right amount of foam.
Jasmine Tea – Crisp, floral, and lightly sweetened with honey—absolutely lovely.
White Coconut Crème Tea – Sweet and fragrant with beautiful coconut notes that feel like a warm, comforting hug.
Savory Bites You’ll Love
Tuna Tartlet – Fresh, delicate tuna topped with trout roe for a perfect bite of ocean goodness.
Curried Pastry – Crisp and golden with a beautifully balanced curry filling that’s warm and flavorful.
Lobster Roll – Buttery and creamy with just a hint of spice at the finish—decadent and delicious.
Goat Cheese Bite – The perfect mix of salty and sweet with a touch of pistachio crunch.
Wagyu Tartine – Rich, melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu beef with shallot marmalade and blue cheese—a match made in heaven.
Sweet Treats to End on a High Note
Traditional Scones – Perfectly baked, served with luscious double cream and raspberry jam that you’ll absolutely love.
Apple Pie – Sweet and cinnamon-spiced, just like a cozy fall day.
Benne Seed Cookie – Crumbly in the best way, with a toasty, nutty flavor reminiscent of sesame.
Chocolate Pecan Tart – A satisfying crunch of hazelnut and pecan, rich and buttery in every bite.
Caramel Éclair – Light, airy, and just sweet enough with a subtle caramel touch.
Whether you're gathering with your girlfriends, indulging in some much-needed "me time," or celebrating life’s special moments in style, afternoon tea at The Thoroughbred Club is the perfect blend of Southern charm and timeless elegance - and personally my favorite High Tea service in town.
