The Elliston Clifftop Tourist Drive is such a scenic little detour, and the best part? You don’t even have to leave your car to soak in the views (though you’ll definitely want to get out for a few photos!). The rugged coastline is absolutely breathtaking, with dramatic cliffs dropping straight into the wild Southern Ocean—it’s a solid way to take in the beauty of this area without adding too much time to your trip.
But beyond the scenery, there’s also some deeply tragic history here. This coastline was the site of massacres, and it’s an important place to reflect on Australia’s past. There are memorials along the way that share some of the history, so it’s worth taking a moment to acknowledge what happened here.
If you’re road-tripping, it’s an easy stop, pet-friendly, and a good spot to stretch your legs. Just be mindful of the wind—it can be pretty hectic up on the cliffs!
