Stuðlagil Canyon is an iconic spot in Northern Iceland that boasts some of the country’s most unique basalt rock formations. Visitors should plan to take the historical Jökulsá á Brú glacial river path, and make sure to drive slowly due to the uneven roads. When you arrive, start your visit on the west side of the river where there is a large parking lot and standby for 239 stairs down to the river. Once you’re across the river, prepare for a scenic walk along the gravel path to reach the picturesque viewpoint and take in the sight of these majestic formations. Get ready to be in awe!
