Ginkaku-ji is a Buddhist temple complex built after the death of Ashikaga Yoshimasa. The main temple structure, Kannon-den, was designed to resemble the golden Kinkaku-ji but ended up being known as the "Silver Pavilion" due to its unfinished silver foil exterior. The temple's garden, featuring moss-covered grounds and a sand garden symbolizing Mount Fuji, adds to the serene and contemplative atmosphere of this historical site. Being one of the most famous temples I highly recommend to visit either right at opening time or about an hour before it closes. Entrance fee 500yen.
