Måtinden is a peak at 408 meters above sea level in Andøy. This is one of Vesterålens most popular mountains, and the view was far more spectacular than I had been expecting. At the peak you can see both beautiful mountains, white beaches, and several islands. There is also an excellent view towards the Atlantic Ocean. We even encountered several eagles and some roaming sheep.
The hike is 3.8 km one way and starts with a steep incline, but after that you are already 300 meters up and hardest part is already over. You are rewarded with a fantastic view of Bleik beach and the western coastline of Andøya. This is yet another peak where you should be careful of the edge when taking pictures.
