The Aletsch Glacier, located in the eastern Bernese Alps of Switzerland, is a magnificent feature of the landscape and the largest glacier in the Alps. Spanning an impressive 23 km (14 miles) and covering 81.7 km2 (31.5 square miles), this incredible natural wonder is a sight to behold. Its unique depth and width is made up of four smaller rivers that converge at Konkordiaplatz, which measures nearly 1 km. The glacier's highest elevation is 4160m, while the lowest lies at 1650 m. This majestic glacier offers spectacular views of the Jungfrau-Aletsch Protected Area (which was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2001!) and the Massa River - a stunning natural spectacle that should be experienced in person!
