McClure Pass is a mountain pass in western Colorado that sits at an elevation of 8,755 feet. It separates the Crystal River and North Fork Gunnison River headwaters and is named after Thomas "Mack" McClure, who ran a stage stop there in the late 19th century. The pass is crossed by State Highway 133, providing a direct route between Carbondale and Paonia. Despite its steep approaches, it's generally open year-round, except during heavy snowstorms. So, if you're cruising through the Rocky Mountains and need a scenic route, McClure Pass has got you covered!
