The Aareschlucht is a picturesque and fascinating gorge in the Swiss Canton of Bern located near the town of Meiringen. Flanked by sheer cliffs rising up to 50 meters on both sides, this two kilometer stretch of the Aare River carves through limestone to provide a unique geological landscape. Visitors from all over come to experience the wonders of the gorge for themselves.

How to get there: take the number 71 train from Meiringen to Aareschlucht West. ( two stops only) from the trainstation cross the bridge and follow the sign towards Aaareschlucht gorge. around 4 minutes walk.
It is open 8.30 am until 5.30pm . If you would like to avoid the crowed go at opening time. Or on a rainy day. I guarantee you, you won't regret it.
Sadly the gorge is not open in winter. Next opening time is 2024 March 29th.
