Claypotts Castle is a well-preserved 16th-century Z-plan tower house located in Dundee, Scotland. Built by John Strachan between 1569 and 1588, the castle has a unique design with projecting towers on opposite sides of a rectangular main block. Despite its defensive features, it likely served more as a domestic residence. The castle changed hands several times before becoming an Ancient Monument under Historic Environment Scotland's care. Legend has it that a brownie once inhabited the castle, helping the servants until a lazy kitchen maid drove him away.
