Punta Tombo is a must-visit spot in Patagonia where over a million Magellan Penguins flock every year to breed. Visitors can get up close and personal with these adorable creatures, but remember, no touching! The reserve was established in 1979 to protect this unique penguin colony, making it a special place to experience the wonders of nature.

  • Best time to visit: October to March (chick season) 🐣

  • Other wildlife: guanacos 🦙, rheas 🦆, and sea lions 🦭

  • Walking trails allow close encounters (no touching!) 🚶‍♂️❌

How to Get There 🚗✈️

  • Fly to Trelew from Buenos Aires (2h flight) ✈️

  • Drive from Trelew (2h) via Route 3 + Route 75 🛣️

  • No public transport – rental car or tour required 🚐

Entrance Fees (2025) 🎟️

  • Foreign visitors: $18,000 ARS (adults), $9,000 ARS (kids) 🌍

  • National visitors: $6,500 ARS (adults), $3,500 ARS (kids) 🇦🇷

  • Free for children under 6 & people with disabilities 🎉

  • Daily: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (October to early May) ⏳

  • Closed from April to September
