Höfn is an Icelandic fishing town with a scenic view of the largest ice cap in Europe - Vatnajökull. The town was founded by the merchant Ottó Tuliníus in 1897 after relocating from Papós, and now offers many exciting activities for its visitors such as whale watching and flights to Vatnajökull. Aside from fishing, tourism is also an integral part of Höfn’s economy, with nearby areas used as a filming location for several movies including Die Another Day and A View to a Kill. Those visiting Höfn can participate in the annual Humarhátíð lobster festival, view some modern protestant and catholic churches, or check out the exhibitions at Gamlabúð and Listasafn Svavars Guðnasonar. With so much to do within such a tranquil environment, Höfn is truly a great destination for those looking for something new and exciting!
