The beauty of these waterfalls is mesmerizing. The view from the top is gorgeous but seeing the waterfalls from the bottom are even better.
At 128 meters (420 feet), Háifoss waterfall, which literally means "Tall waterfall" is one of the tallest waterfalls in Iceland. Literally next to it is Granni waterfall, which means "neighbor". The best time to visit is during summer (June - September).
From the parking lot, the waterfalls are only a short walk, but it's a rocky path in some areas, so sturdy hiking boots with great ankle support and soles with good grip are highly recommended.
If you have about two hours and enjoy a fun hike, I highly recommend walking down to the base of the waterfalls. You walk to the left on the waterfalls, climb over a small ladder situated on a fence (the fence is there to keep the sheep out of the area), and walk down and to the right. The hike down is fairly easy but the hike back up is a little steep.
The best vehicle to get to these amazing waterfalls is a 4x4 because a decent portion of the road is a rough gravel road with a lot of pot holes.
I hope you include this stop on your adventure because it is insanely gorgeous and worth stopping to see.
