The Saints Cyril and Methodius Cathedral in Prague is a significant Orthodox Church dedicated to the patron saints Cyril and Methodius. Built in the 18th century, it has a rich history, including being the site of a dramatic last stand during World War II by Czech and Slovak agents. Today, it serves as a place of worship and also houses a museum honoring the brave individuals who fought there.

Interesting fact

During the German occupation, the cathedral became a focal point of resistance against fascist oppression. After the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich on May 27, 1942, the parachutists involved in the attack took refuge in the cathedral's crypt. On June 18, SS troops captured the crypt, leading to the arrest, torture, and murder of Orthodox priests and their families, with Bishop Gorazd being executed on September 4, 1942. After World War II, the cathedral was reconsecrated on July 5, 1947, and since 1998, it has served as the National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror.
