Heiwadai Park is an oasis of tranquility in Miyazaki. This public park is also home to one of Miyazaki's most iconic landmarks - the Peace Tower, which stands tall and proud overlooking the vast expanse of green lawns beneath it. Constructed in 1940 to mark the 2600th anniversary of Emperor Jimmu's ascension to power, the tower encompasses a unifying symbol of different cultures and sends out the message of coming together as one. One can enjoy the picturesque views of over 400 imitation haniwa statues that depict animals, warriors, dancers, boats and houses amidst a scenic walking path through the trees. To enhance the experience, visitors can even experience an interesting acoustic trick - clap their hands at the center of the lawn below the tower and be pleasantly surprised by the amplified echo that radiates back!
