Kirkjufell is a 463m high hill in Iceland's Snæfellsnes peninsula, near Grundarfjörður. It's known as the most photographed mountain in Iceland and was featured in Game of Thrones. Despite its volcanic rock composition, it's not a volcano but a nunatak that stood above glaciers during the Ice Age. Climbing Kirkjufell can be done in about 3 hours, but watch out for steep sections, especially in wet or bad weather. Unfortunately, there have been some mountaineering accidents on the mountain over the years.
