Hofskirkja Turf Church in Öræfi, South-East Iceland, is the youngest of the remaining turf churches in the country. Built in 1883-1885, this charming church has a rock wall and a roof covered with turf. Inside, you'll find a beautifully painted interior with a chancel screen separating the nave and choir. The church is now closed to the public but is maintained by the National Museum of Iceland. Located near Vatnajökull glacier, Hofskirkja is a must-see for those exploring the stunning landscapes of South-East Iceland.
