Stornappstinden is an impressive peak and, at 740 meters above sea level, is one of the higher mountains in the Lofoten Islands. The steep ascent is well worth the effort, as you are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view over the island of Flakstadøya and across to Vestvågøya, including Offersøykammen, Holandsmelen, Mannen, and Himmeltindan. With a bit of luck, you might even find yourself standing above the clouds at the summit, offering an even more spectacular 360-degree view.

Starting point: Approximately 2.5 km from the village of Napp, there are two parking lots. One is located at the Nappskaret viewpoint (Google Maps coordinates: 68.129212, 13.396631), and the other is further down near a small ski lift (Google Maps coordinates: 68.129585, 13.390043).

Route: From the parking lot, you follow a clear path in the direction of Stornappstinden. The first part of the hike is fairly easy and not steep. The trail turns to the left and wraps around the smaller peak in front of you, heading towards the higher peak of Stornappstinden. After crossing a stream and passing through some less marshy sections, the trail becomes steeper as you continue up the mountain. Most of the elevation gain is in the second part of the hike. Some sections are rocky, while others are sandy and slippery. The trail is not marked, but the path is generally very clear. Occasionally, it splits briefly, but the paths always merge back together. After the steep ascent, the trail flattens out again over the summit plateau. From here, it is only a short uphill distance, but less steep, until you reach the top. It is a short but tough and very steep hike, rewarding you with one of the most beautiful 360° views in the Lofoten.

Difficulty according to Norwegian standards: Red = challenging; suitable for experienced hikers with good endurance and necessary hiking equipment.
