The gargantuan Phuket Big Buddha stands 45 metres tall atop Nakkerd Hill near Chalong, commanding a powerful presence as an iconic symbol of faith in Thailand. Completed in 2014, the concrete and Burmese white marble statue portrays a seated Lord Buddha and was declared the Buddhism Treasure of Phuket by the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand. An estimated $950,000 was raised largely through donations to construct the enormous structure. A perfect spot for tourists and locals alike wanting to take in some stunning views whilst paying their respects, the Phuket Big Buddha is a source of pride for all who visit.
