Conquer the summit of Mount Rose and enjoy the alpine lakes, waterfalls, and views of Lake Tahoe. Located in Mount Rose Wilderness, the trail leaves from the Mount Rose Summit Trailhead off Mount Rose Highway. Mount Rose Trail begins on the north side of Tamarack Peak on Tahoe Rim Trail. On the return, it meets up with National Forest Development Road 51 and finishes the loop trail to the south of Tamarack Peak.
Near Incline Village, Mt. Rose is the third tallest peak in Tahoe Basin and a prominent feature of the northern Lake Tahoe skyline, but, despite having over 2,000 feet in elevation gain, the journey to the peak is best described as pleasant rather than challenging. The trail’s notable features include Tamarack Peak, Galena Creek, and Galena Falls, along with the summit.
