The iconic view of Moraine Lake surrounded by the Ten Peaks is taken from the rockpile at the northern end of the lake.
The trail to the top of the rockpile is short but uphill with multiple sets of steps. Stay on the path and behind the fences for safety (and also to avoid damage to the landscape).
Allow 30 minutes to hike the 800m return trail.
A Parks Canada parks pass is required to explore Banff National Park - $22/day for a vehicle of up to 7 people. To reach Moraine, you'll need to use the Parks Canada shuttle bus, take the 8X from Banff and then the Parks Canada Connector ($25 day pass) or book a private shuttle.
