Crescent-shaped Pyramid Lake is backdropped by 2766m high Pyramid Mountain. Take a short walk on Pyramid Island, which juts into the lake.
A picturesque wooden bridge provides access to the island. A short flat loop trail visits several viewpoints, with interpretive signage on the way. This is a very pretty place to explore, so much so that it is one of Jasper's most popular wedding photography venues.
The main parking area is 200m from the wooden bridge. There are only 8 parking spots here, with a few more a little further along on the road. I recommend visiting early or late in the day, avoiding the busy 10am to 5pm period.
Alternatively, visit Pyramid Lake beach area on the south side of the lake. There is a much larger parking area and plenty of picnic tables.
A Parks Canada parks pass is required to explore Jasper National Park ($22/day for a vehicle of up to 7 people).
