Fort Dunree, located on the Inishowen peninsula in County Donegal, Ireland, is a coastal defence fortification with a rich history. Originally built during the Napoleonic Wars, it was later armed with various guns and played a strategic role in defending Lough Swilly. After British sovereignty, it was handed over to Ireland in 1938. Today, Fort Dunree is a military museum showcasing restored guns, exhibitions on local wildlife, and offers visitors a glimpse into its fascinating past as a key defensive stronghold.

It is free to roam around the fort but to enter the fort/museum it costs €8 per adult. Very interesting if you enjoy wartime history. Make sure to do the short (but steep walk up around the fort to take in the views of Dunree Bay)
