Geysir, Iceland is an incredible destination with captivating displays of geothermal activity. The Great Geysir, from which the phenomenon of “geyser” draws its name, is still active, though eruptions are not as frequent nor as impressive as in past centuries. Still, other sights here—such as Strokkur, a geyser that reaches heights of around 40 metres—are regular and dramatic. The entire place can be enjoyed on a full Golden Circle day tour, alongside Þingvellir National Park and Gullfoss Waterfall.
