El Ateneo Grand Splendid is a bookstore housed in a former theater. In 2008, The Guardian named it the 2nd most beautiful bookstore in the world and in 2019 National Geographic included it in its list of most beautiful bookstores, as well.

For the best photos, head up to the upper floors to get the best pictures and views of the mural covered ceiling. The mural was painted in 1919 by Nazareno Orlandi to celebrate the end of the First World War.
