This is the largest palm forest in Crete, where you will witness the protected endemic Phoenix Theophrastii palm tree that grows in the area. In fact, the palm tree forest is so thick that the trees almost touch the sea.
Nothing like relaxing under the shade of a palm tree on a hot summer day, lying on the golden sand. This spot is located on the east coast of Crete, up north. The city of Sitia is quite close, as is the emblematic monastery of Toplou.
The only downside is that this place has gotten quite touristy in the recent years and this shows in the infrastructure. Tavernas, shops, a large parking lot which is almost always full during July, August and September.
