Sivas is a quaint, traditional village in the southern part of the region of Heraklion, in close proximity to Tympaki, Matala and Moires.
It’s definitely a display of the authentic life of a Cretan village. I recommend it as a short stopover on your way south.
Tip: treat yourself with a cup of Greek coffee at the main square, next to the church of Ayios Ioannis Prodromos. Sit with the locals and communicate with them. Ask them what they are up to, what they do for a living, what it's like living in a small village in southern Crete. They will open their hearts to you!
