Sphinx Observatory is the highest view point of the Jungfraujoch visitor center.
It has a large outdoor deck, called the "Sphinx Terrace," which is a great place to get beautiful photos of the glacier and surrounding peaks. There are also indoor areas to enjoy the view, with large windows - much more comfortable on very cold days.
To get here: After exiting the Jungfraubahn train, you walk through a long tunnel to an elevator, labeled Sphinx Terrace. Ride to the top for the observation decks. It climbs 108m in 25 seconds.
After enjoying the views, ride back down to continue the tour towards the Ice Palace and Glacier Plateau, where can walk on the snow.
What to wear: Even in summer, it can be quite chilly on the terrace. So bring a warm jacket and perhaps gloves and a hat. Don't forget sunglasses, as the sun reflecting on the snow can be very intense.
