The Brusio Spiral Viaduct is an engineering marvel that overlooks the valley of Brusio. The 110m spiral railway viaduct was built in 1908 as part of the Bernina Railway, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Rhaetian Railway, owner of the viaduct and surrounding track, has engineered it to curve with a 50 to 70m radius, rising up from the valley floor and maximizing its rate of elevation within a 7% gradient. The iconic structure, crafted of stone sourced from the local area, carries both local freight and passenger trains, satisfying modern travel needs and always providing a stunning view.
