Anyone who has visited Banff or seen a postcard will recognize Cascade Mountain. Towering over town, its summit beckons as a lofty hiking objective. A right of passage for many locals, reaching the peak is a notable feat for any hiker. Standing at the top and marveling at the expansive 360-degree views, you could almost forget the grinding approach. Even for highly experienced hikers, summiting Cascade Mountain is a long day.
We recommend it only for those who have some experience with other summits under their belt. It should also be noted that conditions to summit only happen a few weeks a year when the snow band below the summit melts away. You can typically see it from town.
