Johnston Canyon is one of the most approachable and scenic hikes in Banff National Park, making it a favorite for visitors of all ages. The elevated catwalks and forested trails lead to the stunning Lower and Upper Falls, with an optional extension to the Ink Pots.
While beautiful in any season, summer sees overwhelming crowds, and the experience isn’t what it once was. As Banff’s busiest hike, we strongly recommend visiting early morning or late evening for a more peaceful walk. In winter, the frozen waterfalls create a magical landscape, and outside of holidays, crowds are much less of an issue—making it a fantastic off-season adventure.
