Panther Falls is a spectacular but rarely visited waterfall along the Icefields Parkway. It offers a powerful cascade in a rugged canyon setting. While the viewpoint near the parking area provides a glimpse of the falls, the best views require a short but steep hike.
The trail is loose and slippery, so we recommend it only for sure-footed hikers comfortable on uneven terrain. If you take care on the descent, Panther Falls rewards you with an up-close, unforgettable experience. This is also a popular stop in the winter when the falls freeze over. Some like to hike up and behind the falls, but it's best to wear a helmet, as falling ice is common.
