Strahov Monastery was founded in 1143 by Bishop Jindřich Zdík and Duke Vladislaus II. Throughout its history, the monastery faced challenges such as attacks during the Hussite Wars and plundering by Swedish troops in the Thirty Years' War. However, under the leadership of Abbot Jan Lohelius and others, the monastery underwent significant reconstruction and expansion. Today, after being returned to the Premonstratensian Order in 1989, the monastery has been restored and houses a valuable library with over 200,000 volumes, including manuscripts and first prints. Definitely worth checking out!
