Cape Flattery is the most northwestern point of the contiguous United States located on the Olympic Peninsula. It's where the Strait of Juan de Fuca meets the Pacific Ocean and is part of the Makah Reservation. You can take a short hike through lush, green forest, with most of the trail being a boardwalk. The water is a beautiful deep blue and sea caves line the coast. The Cape Flattery Lighthouse sits on Tatoosh Island just off the cape. Bring your binoculars, you may spot a colony of puffins or a family of sea lions lounging on the rocks. It is a stunning detour if you have the time!

If you're heading to Cape Flattery for a hike, remember this is Native Land so don't forget to grab a Makah Recreation Pass in Neah Bay (link to website below) before hitting the trail. This pass not only covers parking at Cape Flattery but also works for Shi Shi Beach, so it's a handy one to have in your pocket. The parking area at Cape Flattery can hold around 20 cars and even has a pit toilet for those pre-hike necessities. Just follow the signs in Neah Bay to get there, and you'll be all set for a scenic adventure at the northwest tip of the contiguous United States.
