Te Puia is a popular geothermal park closest to Rotorua (in the outskirts). It also offers a unique blend of Māori culture, as you can also enjoy cultural performances here. This park can only be visited by guided tour. The standard guided experience, called "Te Rā Guided Experience," lasts approximately 1.5 hours and covers the highlights of Te Puia, including the Pōhutu Geyser, the Kiwi Conservation Centre, and the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute. It's a great option if you're just in the area for a day and want to experience both the geothermal landscape and Māori culture.
