South Devon

Totnes - Christmas Market and Late Night Shopping - 3rd, 10th and 17th December. This feels like the most special one with some amazing stalls and independent shops, carols, and if you go on the 17th December, you can enjoy the lantern parade through the town. It starts at 4.30pm and Rotherfield Square!

Plymouth - Plymouth Christmas Market - 28th Nov - 15th December. If you're out doing your Christmas shopping in the city, why not pop down to the market to check out the artisan gift stalls, and try some of the festive food and drink.

Dartmouth - Candlelight Dartmouth - 29th - 30th November. 10am - 8pm.

Highlights over the weekend include a spectacular procession with hundreds of beautiful, hand-made paper lanterns (of which there is a procession at 5pm on the Saturday!) and Father Christmas' boat gliding silently through the moonlit waters of the river Dart. There will be a Christmas market of course, and plenty of food and drink stalls to keep you fuelled.

Kingsbridge - Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas - 7th December - 9am - late.

This event sees several events take place along Fore Street and the Town Square. The kids will be able to see Santa, there is plenty of live music and even an ice skating rink. The market itself will offer plenty of festive treats and gifts as well!

Plymouth - Festive Good Food and Craft Market - 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, 15th and 18th December. Located in my favourite area of Plymouth, Royal William Yard, these Wednesday/Sunday markets will be open from 10am - 3pm. There will be plenty of wonderful gifts, food and entertainment.

Plymouth - Native Makers Festive Market - 30th Nov, 1st, 14th and 15th Dec. This market, again located at Royal William Yard is, has been carefully curated to showcase over 50 local makers and creatives small businesses so you can be sure to find a completely unique gift. Open from 10am - 4pm.

Dartington - Dartington Trust Christmas Fair - 7th & 8th Dec - 10am - 4pm.

Located in the beautiful medieval Great Hall on the estate, there will be over 60 stalls offering a wide variety of gifts, as well as festive food and music throughout the weekend.

Torquay - Torre Abbey Winter Fest - 30th Nov & 1st Dec - 10am - 5pm.

Stalls will be selling a unique array of handmade local items that you won’t find on the high street. Items on sale include Christmas decorations, toys, jewellery, knitted and crochet gifts, craft kits and a range of wooden objects made by a local wood turner. You will also be able to meet alpacas from a local farm and buy related products. Expect Christmas tunes, festive decorations and mulled wine on sale.  

Newton Abbot - Christmas Market - 11th and 18th December. 4pm - 9pm.

Located in Queen Street and Courtenay Street, there are many stalls and shops open for late night Christmas shopping, as well as a lantern parade, carols and festive street food.

North Devon

Bideford - Christmas Market at Affinity Square - 16th - 17th November. Over 70 Christmas themed stalls, mulled wine and excellent street food.

Braunton - North Devon Christmas Market - 7th December - 12pm - 8pm.

Hosting over 130 traders, this outdoor Christmas market showcases the finest crafts and products from the West Country. Gear yourself up for live entertainment, delicious street food and lots of superb shopping opportunities

Abbotsham - The Big Sheep Christmas Market - 7th, 14th and 21st December.

The South West's biggest indoor Christmas farmer's market, this is where you can stock up on all the fresh produce for the festive season, from turkeys, cheeses, cakes and fresh fish. It's not just foodie stalls though, there will be plenty of gift stalls available to browse too.

Bideford - Sunshine and Snow Festive Late Night - 6th December - 6pm - 9pm.

An independent craft market and festive evening hosted by Sunshine and Snow lifestyle store. There's going to be a DJ, a tarot card reader, pizzas cooked by Pig & Olive and beverages served by Heartbreak Hotel Coffee. Sounds like a wonderful night!

Ilfracombe - Combe Christmas Market - 29th November

Christmas lights and lanterns illuminate this coastal town and the annual Combe Christmas market promises to provide an evening of festive cheer, live music, delicious food and drink and plenty of Christmas spirit! 6pm - 9pm at the war memorial.

Dartmoor and West Devon

Chagford - Wonderworks Contemporary Craft Fair - 30th Nov & 1st Dec. Jubilee Hall hosts stalls from some of the best makers in the South West with everything from ceramics, woodwork, jewellery and art. If you want a unique Christmas gift, this is such a great market and you'll be supporting charity too. Each exhibitor donates impressive prizes and runs throughout the weekend.

Buckland Abbey - Small Barn Mini Winter Markets - 23rd and 24th November. A select 15 stalls will be available to peruse in the Small Barn, along with festive music and activities. This is a National Trust property so the usual admission fee will apply unless you are a member. The markets will be open from 10am - 4pm.

Buckfastleigh - Wintertide - 30th November. Open from 10am - 5pm, this is truly a Christmas market to celebrate the makers and creatives in the area, founded by Hannah of The Southwester. There will be over 50 artists and makers showcasing in Buckfastleigh Town Hall, and then The Brew Hub will locate plenty of food and drink offerings.

Buckfastleigh - Buckfast Abbey Christmas Fair - 28th - 30th November - 10am - 5pm.

This year the annual Christmas Fair and beautiful Buckfast Abbey is bigger and better than ever before, hosting more stalls from an amazing variety of small local businesses, and it's also the first year that Santa is making an appearance. Be sure to book a slot on the website to make your child's day!

South Brent - Crux Craft Fair - 22nd - 24th November.

Exhibitors at this craft fair in Rattery Village Hall specialise in woodwork, textiles, ceramics, design and art to name a few and are all incredibly talented.

Tavistock - Tavistock Christmas Festival - 8th December - from 10.30am.

Located at the Butcher's Hall and Pannier Market, this full day event promises to bring loads of festive cheer with over 70 exhibitors, live music, yummy food and festive bouncy castles for the kids!

East and Mid Devon

Topsham - Love Topsham Festive Market - 30th Nov & 1st December. Over 20 stalls from the best of local small businesses, with christmas light switch on, plenty of mulled wine and live music!

Exeter - Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market - 15th Nov - 15th Dec. The classic Christmas market in Devon, most similar to our European friends with over 100 wooden chalet stalls offering plenty of gifts and foodie treats.

Honiton - Christmas at The Beehive - 7th December - 10am - 4pm.

Lovely local event supporting local businesses and talented crafters. There will be refreshments and delicious festive food on offer throughout the day.

Tiverton - Victorian Christmas Fair at Ashley Court - 11th December - 1pm - 8pm.

A unique Christmas market hosted in the beautiful Ashley Court, meaning you can explore the house as well as enjoy where various stall holders will be displaying their wares - from antiques to hand made soft toys, to local cider and other wonderful items.  The Ashley Court tea room will be open from 5pm onwards serving tea/coffee, mulled wine, cakes and mince pies.
