What you’ll do

Perhaps you've already visited the Rockies and seen all the main highlights, or maybe you prefer peaceful places away from the crowds, or perhaps you just enjoy spending your vacations in an active, adventurous way. Either way, this itinerary is full of long hikes and lesser known places and will be a great source of inspiration for you!

Note: the itinerary starts at Kananaskis Country (near Calgary) and ends in Jasper, so you might have to count extra time/days for getting from/to airport.

On the first day, you'll explore the beauty of Kananaskis Country which is a provincial park and less known area of Canadian Rockies that many people overlook, but it's just as stunning as the national parks.

Smutwood Peak and Tent Ridge are two beautiful trails located right next to each other. Choose one to tackle for a day of stunning views.

Mount Engadine Lodge is a beautiful wilderness lodge and glamping resort located right next to Smutwood Peak and Tent Ridge trails, making it a perfect place to relax after hiking one of these trails. To be honest, it is on a pricier side, but all stays come with all-inclusive gourmet dining, including afternoon tea.

Alternatively, you could stay at Spray Lakes campground or one of the hotels in Canmore.
