Tucked away in the backcountry near Tofino, Virgin Falls is a stunning 53-meter waterfall surrounded by lush old-growth forest. It’s a long way to go for a photo, but the drive is part of the adventure, with rugged logging roads and incredible scenery.
Getting there requires some planning—a 4x4, high-clearance vehicle is recommended, and it’s wise to bring a map, spare tire, and emergency gear since cell service is spotty. The drive in and out takes several hours, so don’t rely on Google Maps for this one. It’s also a good idea to check road conditions before you leave—a quick Google search will give you up-to-date info.
Once you arrive, it’s a short, scenic hike to the falls, where you’ll find plenty of photography opportunities. Bring a tripod for long exposures and take time to explore different angles to make the most of the scene.
It’s a bit of a trek, but Virgin Falls is well worth the effort if you love wild, untouched landscapes.
