La Sagrada Familia is a captivating yet unfinished basilica under construction in the Barcelona city of Catalonia, Spain. It is one of the largest Catholic churches in the world that remains incomplete to this day. Started in 1882 under architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, the design of the church was re-envisioned by legendary architect Antoni Gaudí who devoted the rest of his life to developing the project. He is even buried in the crypt! The church is an absolutely unique combination of the Gothic Revival and Art Nouveau styles, taking full advantage of computer-aided technology and milling machines for stone shaping. The structure will be completed at some point throughout this century after more than 140 years of history. At the time, Sagrada Familia had attracted millions of visitors and is sure to fascinate generations to come!
