Park
A scenic hydrangea park offering views of Lake Kawaguchi and glimpses of Mt. Fuji. Instead of using the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, consider hiking through this picturesque park for an enjoyable alternative. The trail features benches, rest areas, and blooms that change with the seasons, as well as viewpoints perfect for taking in the surrounding beauty. The hike is manageable and not too strenuous, making it an ideal route for those seeking a peaceful experience. I highly recommend opting to hike up or down through this park instead of taking the ropeway both ways.
Hiking Route: Start from the Tenjozan Park ropeway station and take the path through the vibrant hydrangea fields, which takes about 50 minutes. The hiking course, known as the Ajisai Hiking Course, is particularly stunning in mid-July to early August when approximately 100,000 hydrangea plants bloom along the trail.
Highlight: From the Nakabadaira Viewpoint, located about 15 minutes from the summit station, you can enjoy panoramic views of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding landscape. This spot is equipped with a small shelter, benches, and a monument dedicated to the author Osamu Dazai.
